10 Ways To Get Involved With Stop The Traffik

Membership of Stop The Traffik is free and is open to any organisation (e.g. school, charity, community group, club, faith group, business; local, regional, national and international). Here are ten practical ways in which your organisation can get involved (we’ll leave it to your imagination to come up with as many more as you can think of), but remember, whatever you do, please keep us in touch:

1. Get your supporters to sign the Stop The Traffik Declaration. The Stop The Traffik Declaration template will be available on our website so that you can incorporate your logo and web site address if you choose.

2. Launch you own fundraising initiative around the Stop The Traffik. Stop The Traffik will support a wide number of projects working with those rescued from trafficking (e.g. safe houses, health care, education, vocational training and legal support), as well as preventative initiatives for those vulnerable to trafficking from around the world. You can choose which project(s) to support, or to nominate a charity of your choice as the focus of your fundraising. Details of how funds will be distributed will be shown clearly on the Stop The Traffik website.

3. Buy and sell a stock of the Stop The Traffik symbolic Freedom Keys, which will be wearable or attachable to a key ring. The pricing structure of these plastic keys will allow your organisation to make a profit, which you can channel into your related work, or a Stop The Traffik supported project. Keys and prices will be available in the coming months and featured on the web site.

4. Distribute and use Stop The Traffik action packs, which will give practical ideas for schools and community group projects and launching ‘Freedom Day’ events in your area. The pack, which will be downloadable from our web site, is filled with ideas that can be used just as they are or adapted to fit your context.

5. Use the Stop The Traffik Logo in your mailings and publicity. We will make the logo available in various formats on the web site.

6. Set up a link from your web site to the Stop The Traffik official website.

7. Get news about Stop The Traffik and your involvement in it into your local newspaper and onto your local radio station. We will provide regular news and focus features on the web site, which you can use in your own way.

8. Hang a banner with the Stop The Traffik logo, the web site address and the name and logo of your group or organization on the outside of your building.

9. Pass on this information and get other groups you know to join Stop The Traffik, to help make it one of the biggest coalitions of its kind in history. Together let’s stand up and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

10. Stop The Traffik is a partner of Amazing Grace (a Walden Media film, makers of The Chronicles of Narnia to be released Spring 2007 worldwide). Amazing Grace tells the story of William Wilberforce and the abolition against slave trade - the Trans-Atlantic trafficking of people. A downloadable educational program and ideas about how to maximize the impact of the film in your community and up-to-date information about release dates will be found on www.walden.com/amazing grace and our website. Organise a trip to see Amazing Grace for your school, youth group, office, neighbours, to inspire them to unlock freedom for all those trapped in the bondage of trafficking today
